Telemarketing and Telesales are two terms that are commonly used in the business industry and often in interchangeable way. Both terms refer to a direct marketing campaign that uses the telephone as a channel to deliver the message to consumers. Basically telesales is the traditional term or much older term while telemarketing is the most recent term that is being used.

Telemarketing has been used as a general term for any marketing activities over the phone, thus including Telesales as part its activities. Such activities include consumer product and or service awareness, lead generation and appointment setting, market research and selling.
